Once I moved into my apartment, one of the first things I wanted to do was decorate. But everyone knows that is the last thing to be done when moving. Slowly but surely I bought a bed frame after sleeping on my mattress on the floor. It was about a month until I bought or moved in everything and was finally able to decorate. After that, it truly felt like home.
Living room
- Quilted tapestry from Alcaiceria, or the Arab market in Granada: My favorite color combination is yellow, orange, and pink
- Elephant pillow from Vietnam: goes with mauve, yellow, and orange theme in my living room
- Goddess scroll from Thailand: Picked up from a market in Bangkok
- Hand painted sugar skull from New Orleans: the lady selling them sources the pottery from Mexico and then hand paints
- Watercolor with fabric touches from Vietnam: bought in a candy factory
- Painting of the Sahara desert from Morocco: bought it off a street vendor
- Turkish coffee set from Turkey: an imported gift from my mom
Bedroom
- Evil eye amulets from Turkey: evil eyes are prevalent all over the Middle East but especially in Turkey
- Small rice hats made by an Agent Orange victim in Vietnam: we watched how she made them with her feet
- Natural musk from Morocco: used for temple headaches
- Lemon grass balm from Cambodia: used for bug bites
- White sage from voodoo shop in New Orleans: used to cleanse the apartment after a disappointing lover
- Glass lamp from Turkey: imported gift
- Lock ness monster from Scotland: my friend who studied abroad bought this for me
- Metal bookmark with swan from South Korea: my friend from South Korea brought it back from her visit
Kitchen
- Stuff dragon from Chinese Lantern Festival in Philadelphia: I took pit stop in China for a layover, but didn’t buy it there
Global decor! Love it!!!
